Comparison of thyroid scintigraphy and ARFI-elastography in autoimmune thyroid diseases

چکیده

Aim: To compare the ARFI elastographic and scintigraphic quantitative data obtained from thyroid gland to evaluate diagnostic value of measurements in autoimmune diseases.
Material Method: In study a total 61 patients (41 women, 20 men) including 24 Graves’ disease, 15 Hashimoto disease 22 control subjects. The mean age was 33.9±10.9 years. Patients with nodules were not included study. Thyroid uptake performed Tc 99m pertechnetate elastosonography score determined ARFI. Findings both groups statistically compared each other group
Results: For test; significant difference found between two (p < 0.001) group 0.001 for Hashimoto, p

Epigenetics and Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases

Increasing evidence suggests that epigenetic modifications, including changes in DNA methylation, covalent modifications of histone tails, and gene silencing mediated by non-coding RNA molecules, play a substantial role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune disorders and might be seen as the result of environmental insults that trigger these conditions. Studies in cells and tissues of patients with...

Thyroid Autoantibodies and Autoimmune Diseases

Abnormalities in the thyroid function and thyroid autoantibodies have been frequently described in patients with autoimmune diseases but seldom in antiphospholipid syndrome patients. In order to determine the prevalence of thyroid function and autoimmune abnormalities, we compared serum thyrotropin (TSH, serum free thyroxine (T4) levels, thyroid antithyroglobulin (TgAb) and antithyroperoxidase ...

Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases in Children

The two major autoimmune thyroid diseases (ATDs) include Graves' disease (GD) and autoimmune thyroiditis (AT); both of which are characterized by infiltration of the thyroid by T and B cells reactive to thyroid antigens, by the production of thyroid autoantibodies and by abnormal thyroid function (hyperthyroidism in GD and hypothyroidism in AT). While the exact etiology of thyroid autoimmunity ...

Clinical presentation varies from hyperthyroidism in Graves' Disease to hypothyroidism in Hashimoto's thyroiditis. While the exact etiology of thyroid autoimmunity is not known, interaction between genetic susceptibility and environmental factors app...
